the deposit

The deposit works like a pre-authorisation, just like at a hotel. The amount is held on the borrower's payment method before the rental starts, but never actually charged.

How it's calculated

  • The minimum amount is automatically suggested based on the item's category and value
  • Owners have full control over the final amounts

How it's returned

  • Amount set by the owner based on the item's value
  • Held at the time of booking, never charged if everything goes smoothly
  • If no claim is submitted within 48h of the return, the deposit is fully released
  • In case of a dispute, the owner has 48h to submit a documented claim via the app
